Does anyone know of a definitive way to test whether the fan located in the tablet piece is functioning? Microsoft’s Surface Diagnostic Tool only seems to offer a test for one fan which is the GPU fan in the base. It acts like the fan in the tablet does not exist. I know there is one in there per the iFixit articles online.
When my Surface book is attached to the base with the screen facing out (I think they call it creative mode) it gradually heats up until the unit it extremely hot. I never hear the fan kick in. If left like this it will eventually shut of. I like using the tablet this way paired with external screens when it is docked, but this heat issue is cramping my style.
